Just three months ago, Claire Richards proudly showed off her size 10 figure after losing five stone following the birth of her second child. But as she returns to the limelight in the new series of Popstar To Operastar, the former Steps singer admits she has already put on nearly two stone.
And in a bid to accept her more shapely figure, she has stripped off for a photoshoot in the new issue of Closer magazine.
'For me, staying thin is like a full-time job, and I’d rather spend that time looking after my kids and focusing on my career.'
Although she was never tempted by cigarettes or drugs during her days in Steps, she admits food has always been her weakness.
She explained: 'There’s always been a part of me that feels food is my addiction. I’ve never smoked or taken drugs, but in the past eating has been a compulsion.'
Having returned to TV in the ITV reality show, Richards admitted she has been critical of her physical appearance while watching herself.
But she is determined to focus on developing her opera skills instead. She said: 'When I saw myself on TV last weekend my arms looked massive.
'I don’t know if I’ll ever be truly happy with myself, but I’ll give it my best shot. The important thing is to be comfortable whatever my size. I’m sure I’ll get bigger and smaller again over the next few years.'
